6th Annual Play A Match to Find A Match
The Washingtonville Soccer Club is again teaming up with the Be a Hero Foundation for our 6th Annual Play a Match to Find a Match January 14-15, 2017 at the Hudson Valley Sportsdome in Milton New York. The goal of the indoor tournament is to provide competitive play while raising awareness of multiple myeloma, a rare form of blood cancer which affects bone marrow and provide screenings for anyone who is interested in being a potential bone marrow donor. The Be the Hero For a Hero Foundation exists in conjunction with Be the Match to raise awareness for and increase bone marrow donor registrants. After being diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in 2005, NYC Firefighter Roy Chelsen and family formed Be the Hero For a Hero in hopes of finding Roy a match. Unfortunately, Roy lost his battle on January 9, 2011. The mission of Be the Hero For a Hero lives on and it is to find a match for all those in need of a bone marrow donor.
