HB4341 was introduced in Illinois on January 25th by Rep. Carol Sente, which will ban tackle football for all children in Illinois under the age of 12. Please sign this petition to let Carol Sente know you oppose this bill.

This is an unfair bill that singles out one sport and boys in particular. This bill states her claim that athletes who begin playing contact sport at younger ages have greater risk of brain impairment later in life. So why is she singling out football? What about soccer, hockey, wrestling, etc... Studies show girls soccer is the leading cause of concussions for them. Why no ban on girls soccer?

A quote by Carol Sente "In public safety, sometimes with issues of how much government should get involved, some people will take the side that you have to prove this 100 percent before you stop,” she said. “My feeling is these are children’s lives. … There are important changes that have happened, but I do not think the changes are enough." "Sente said that even if the research on CTE risks for young football players isn’t definitive, the trend is clear enough to demand action."

I find her argument to justify this ban ridiculous. You're banning a sport not based on facts but based on trend??? 

My two sons as well as many others will be devastated that they can't play a sport they love because a politician and some former NFL players said they know what's best for you. I'm the parent and I'm in charge of keeping my children safe, not the government. My small town's football as well as cheerleading program will shut down if this passes. 

Sente said she's seen no organized resistance to this bill. Let's show Rep. Carol Sente and Illinois government that we oppose discriminating against one sport in the name of safety.
